Is it any wonder that the United States of America is hated around the world? And I emphasize, the government, not the American people. As I travel the world and listen to other people, study other cultures, and realize that there is more to life than money, it becomes as clear as Mr. Chomsky's elegant article that we are building an empire that, arguably, is the most hated in the history of man.

Thank you Mr. Chomsky for the article. It is apparent that not all of our "best minds" have swallowed the "Kool-Aid" that our government and media hands out daily.

A phenomenal piece by a great American intellectual. I would appreciate some suggestions: 1/ to link up the "Grand Area" with the constitution of (International) "Area Studies," inside which we must imagine the making of "foreignness." I would love to read more about the historical process that puts studies and geopolitics together. With the apparent demise --or reconfiguration-- of area studies now, what are the alternatives? 2/ I see Chomsky using national entities and big actors (presidents, typically), and his is a deeply skeptical view from above, let us say. Can we think of big-frame politics in relation to social groups? And 3/ How to read more and more intelligently the notion of "externality," originally a classic economic terminology, that may be crucial. Any good approaches out there? Thank you. Best, FGH

Professor Noam Chomsky has yet again, concisely and succinctly, painted an informed and honest view of what and how the empiricists and corporatists have done to transform the American Dream into a global nightmare; his words and example command the attention of not only contemplative thoughtful reason, but overt corrective public action.
Thank you again good Sir, for what you do.
